Hi! I'm Sophie. 

I have always been passionate about the subject of English. With nearly two years of experience tutoring younger and GCSE students whilst studying for my A Levels, I am a friendly, supportive and patient tutor. Wishing to share my love for English, I aim to motivate students in building both their confidence and a more secure knowledge of the subject.  

I have really enjoyed tutoring younger students in the past, and together we have reached highly positive outcomes. With the right help and encouragement for each individual student, I can support them in reaching their full potential. 

I am a firm believer in an interactionist method of both scaffolding and individual exploration. I am happy to go through any topic my tutees feel they need extra support in, and will give them additional prompts and instructions to motivate them where they need it or when they ask for it. I am also happy to take control of the session for a topic they are completely lost on, giving them directions and information, eventually building up their confidence enough for them to complete tasks or questions on the topic without my input. 

My aim for these sessions is to construct a friendly mentor-mentee relationship where my tutee feels comfortable talking about their strengths and weaknesses within English, and from this we can together form a learning plan that fits each individual.
