Tom holds both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Mathematics and is a fully qualified teacher with over 10 years teaching experience in academically selective secondary schools. He is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher with a passion for making complex concepts accessible and engaging for all learners. He is committed to fostering a supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, explore problem-solving strategies, and develop an appreciation for mathematics beyond simply passing exams. In addition to his classroom teaching, Tom has worked as a freelance private tutor for approximately 5 years, working with students both in person and online.

Tom makes extensive use of questioning in his teaching to ensure that pupils are actively engaging with the mathematics and thinking critically about the content. This approach helps students develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and supports long-term retention of material. By regularly asking questions, Tom is able to check for understanding in real time, giving him a clear sense of whether pupils are ready to progress or if a topic needs to be revisited. When introducing new material, he consistently anchors it to familiar concepts, helping students make meaningful connections in their learning.
