I graduated from Cambridge University 14 years ago with a Masters in manufacturing engineering. Since then I've worked as an engineer, a police constable (no bad behaviour in my classes!), and a typesetter. I finally found my passion in teaching and worked for 8 years as a teacher at foundation, A-level and undergraduate level at Anglia Ruskin University. Whilst working at Anglia Ruskin I studied for a Post graduate certificate in Higher Education, and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I'm also a senior examiner for a major exam board, which I've been doing for almost 10 years. I became a full time tutor during 2020, and split my time between teaching, examining and my kids!

My tutoring style is conversational, and I will always try to draw the student towards answering their own question, rather than providing them with an answer. With a new tutee I will always start by getting to know them, and what their goals are to ensure that our expectations match, and I encourage parents to be involved at this stage if the student is under 18. After setting expectations, I am happy to keep parents informed of students' progress but I generally encourage the student to be responsible for their own learning as I find this helps to foster a sense of intellectual independence.
