As a qualified teacher of Mathematics for over two decades, I have helped students develop their problem solving skills to enable them to go on and study a maths biased subject at university such as Enginerreing, Physics and Mathematics. Destinations have included Oxbridge, Durham and many other top universities but I see my role as someone who can help in the developement of active problem solvers. This mostly is about achieving grades that students want in A level Maths and Further Maths but it is also about getting students to realise how they can be an effective problem solver. There will be lots of questions and discussion in the lesson. This means that each lesson is tailored to each student's requirements. Homework and extension material can be set as well.

The most important part of problem solving is understanding the underlying principles involved in answering the question. It sounds easy! My teaching style is to analyse your current understanding through solving problems. The lessons are interactive so I will be asking you lots of questions which should result in lots of discussion points. At times it may be a case of additional knowledge being added but mostly it will be about you seeing the connections between different mathematical concepts that you may not have realised before. I look forward to helping you to develop your problem solving skills and for you to see real progress in your learning journey.
