About Shailpriya
I’m a final-year medical student with over 5 years of tutoring experience in Maths and Science for all ages up to GCSE level. My tutoring journey began with private tutoring, delivering tailored 1:1 lessons to students with a range of learning styles and academic goal. I later started working at Explore Learning, where I supported children aged 4–14 in Maths, English, and 11+ preparation, working closely with students of all abilities, including those with SEND. Afterwards through Tutorful and EliteMedics, I've provided structured online support for GCSE Science and Maths, helping students improve grades and exam confidence; I further deliver sessions aiming to explain complex concepts in an engaging and accessible way. Most recently, with Your Tutor Group, I’ve continued to teach Science and Maths across various age groups, adapting sessions to suit each learner’s pace, background, and needs. I’m passionate about building confidence, simplifying difficult topics, and helping every student reach their full academic potential—no matter their starting point.
Tutoring Style
As a tutor, I really believe that learning should be more than just getting through the syllabus or ticking boxes for exams. I always tailor my sessions to each student’s learning style, because no two learners are the same—and what works for one person might not work for another. My focus is on strengthening the foundations: making sure students genuinely understand the ‘why’ behind each concept, not just how to get the right answer. I’ve seen how this deeper understanding builds confidence and makes a real difference, not only in school but in all kinds of future careers.
I try to create a space where students enjoy what they’re learning and start to see how Maths and Science are relevant to everyday life and the world around them. I use active recall throughout my sessions, regularly revisiting key ideas and linking different topics together so nothing is learned in isolation. That way, skills aren’t treated as one-offs, but as part of a bigger picture that keeps growing over time. I also keep my sessions as interactive and engaging as possible—not just to keep students involved, but so I can better understand where they’re thriving and where they might need more support. For me, it’s about building curiosity, confidence, and clarity—so students walk away not just knowing more, but feeling excited to keep learning.
