Hi, I am Matthew, a Biology MBiol student at the University of Leeds, and a Biology and Chemistry tutor for A-level and GCSE students.

With over 3 years of tutoring experience, I command a great grasp of the exam specifications, and I know exactly what is needed to pick up marks. Therefore, through focusing on exam technique, breaking down conceptually confusing topics and developing academic confidence, I have helped countless students to achieve their target grades.

The simple aim for a tutorial with me is to make sure the student gets one step closer to their personal finish line. I strive for them to leave the lesson feeling like it was a really productive hour and they are in a better position than they were before. Please read my 'Tutoring Style' section below to understand the methods I employ to help students reach their desired goals. 

One of my key strengths is adaptability. With over 30 repeat students on PMT, I have learnt that everyone is unique in their learning preferences - therefore I always tailor each session to match the individual's needs. Additionally, my personable nature, and ability to build strong positive relationships with students enables them to learn in a comfortable environment where they can express themselves with no fear of making mistakes. 

I massively empathise with the difficulties students are facing whilst preparing for exams and I am here to help. With great subject expertise and knowledge of revision and exam techniques, I can push students to get the grades they deserve.

I am very engaging, giving the student plenty of opportunities to test their understanding and consolidate knowledge. If they are finding something tricky, I always use a visual explanation and simplify things down to make sure the student gets it.

I often work through exam questions with the student, helping them know how to approach them and jump through hoops to get the marks. However the main focus is on developing a deep understanding of the topics, ensuring the student can apply their knowledge to every exam question they may face.
