Hello! I’m Jamie, a student at SOAS university majoring in Japanese and Economics.

I have studied Economics for the past five years - from GCSEs through to A-Levels - seeing impressive results throughout. My passion for Economics has compelled me to study it further at degree level, and with the knowledge I’ve accumulated over the years and will continue to acquire, I want to help other students with their own academic pursuits. As a tutor, I desire to help others develop a holistic understanding of the subject - not only to boost their grades, but also so that they too can discover the true beauty behind Economics.

I’ve been helping students in various ways for over a year now. I have amassed 50+ hours of tutoring experience, and outside of tutoring, I've also delivered lessons in a classroom environment. I’ve tried to expand my reach by writing model essays for lines of textbooks - and outside of A-Level content but still relevant, I spend some of my time helping Japanese natives learn English.

(My preferred exam board is AQA, but I do have experience in tutoring other exam boards, viz. Edexcel)

My tutoring style is student-centred. The student is always at the centre of consideration when I plan my lessons - in the sense that each session is tailored to fit their capabilities and requirements. During the lessons themselves, the student always plays an active role so that I can maximise their engagement and minimise their boredom. I also aim to explain subject content and skills in a way that the students themselves can find it most easy to comprehend.

Outside of lessons, but still relevant to my modus operandi as a tutor, I provide additional resources to supplement the students’ learning, and set straightforward homework tasks that are graded with feedback.
