About Me

I'm Jago and I am studying Cyber Security at the University of Warwick. I chose a degree which I find the most interesting and which plays to my strengths. GCSE Maths and Computer Science are fundamental to my course, especially evident by my frequent use of Python. I've coded a variety of programs, from automatic sctips for password brute-forcing to a simple 2-D stealth video game for my A level project. 

Outside academics, I have played music my entire life. I was part of the Chichester Cathedral Choir for 6 years, appearing on the BBC series MotherFatherSon and making 3 albums with them. Alongside this, I continue to play saxophone, clarinet, and the piano in my free time. 

Qualifications

During my GCSEs, I achieved all 9s except for an 8 in French and a 7 in RS. During my A levels, I achieved all As in Computer Science, Maths, and Physics, and received an A for my EPQ project on Nuclear Fusion. 

Teaching Experience

Over the last 4 or so years I've been tutoring, I have taught a variety of students who all have different goals. Most notably, I was able to help a student achieve an academic scholarship for his desired school. On average, each of my students has pushed their grade up by two. I understand that not every student finds Computer Science or Maths in school particularly easy or engaging, which is why my goal is to ensure that my lessons are simple and interactive to help with learning. 

My tutoring style is very student-centred. I've found that no student learns the same, so I always aim to adjust my teaching style accordingly. I keep a friendly and patient environment which encourages learning and progress. Since content is already covered in school, my lessons are more focused on practising exam technique, through the use of a starter quizzes or by covering past papers and going over mark schemes. I often provide resources for effective revision and tips on exam practice.
