I am a certified secondary English Literature and Language teacher with over 10 years' experience teaching. As I am also a GCSE English examiner, I know exactly what is required of my students to achieve their target grade and I work with them to build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

At GCSE I have helped a wide range of students achieve success: from those aiming for a 9 to those re-taking their GCSEs. I have also supported home-educated learners through the English curriculum and exam preparation. 

While my specialism is GCSE, I have experience tutoring a range of students with diverse needs and targets from KS3 to A Level as well as preparation for entrance exams. 

I also hold a TrinityCert TESOL and have experience teaching English as a Foreign Language, so can provide specialised support for students for whom English is a second language.

As a positive and enthusiastic tutor, I aim to build my pupils' confidence in and enjoyment of English. I have experience teaching a range of exam boards and support my students in ensuring they have a full understanding of the content they are required to know. I understand the pressures facing students as they prepare for exams and aim to alleviate this pressure through engaging and enjoyable sessions that equip pupils with the skills necessary to approach their exams with confidence.  

I tailor lessons to each pupil's individual needs and monitor progress regularly to ensure they are the getting the most out of every session. I provide all materials needed for the lessons, based on the exam board used by my students' schools and their own learning preferences. 

As I know the importance of regular feedback to help students improve, I provide all of my GCSE and A Level students with a progress report every half term. This helps both my pupils and their parents/carers to gain a clear understanding of the progress made in lessons so far, current grade and next steps to be taken to achieve the best result possible.
