A qualified English Language and Literature teacher, I have over two decades of experience of teaching English, both in the UK and abroad (predominantly in Asia – Hong Kong, Japan and Vietnam). With a long-standing interest in the arts, I have a broad knowledge of world literature and media, in addition to excellent familiarity with the classics, such as Shakespeare, Chaucer, Dickens, Austen, the Bronte's etc. as well as a range of poetry. 

My MA in linguistics enables me to confidently support A-level, English Language students.

My approach to teaching is student centred, so like to learn a bit about my students before planning lessons based on what students are trying to achieve, and the areas they feel they need most support in. My masters in TEFL gave me a good grounding in textual analysis, and the fundamentals of grammar and discourse analysis etc. which I have built on in my teaching career, working at secondary and Further Education level, as well as supporting university students in the arts and humanities.
