I am a highly experienced Chemistry teacher and tutor and have worked as a Head of Chemistry in both the state and independent sectors. I am used to working with students of all abilities and can help you maximise your results, whether you are struggling to get a pass grade or stretching for an A* for Medical School/Oxbridge entrance. I've also worked with many students with dyslexia, on the autism spectrum/Asberger's. Lots of students find Chemistry to be a challenging subject as it requires a very particular blend of maths, analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with an ability to write concise and precise explanations of phenomena. As an experienced examiner I understand where students make mistakes, can help you analyse your performance and coach you for greater success.

At GCSE I've taught Edexcel and AQA Separate and Combined Science courses and at A level, AQA, Edexcel, WJEC, OCR A and OCR B (Salters) but will happily work with you on whichever exam board you are following.

Before becoming a teacher I worked in the pharmaceutical sector as a drug designer using my chemistry in a very practical sense. I am probably the only UK teacher to have co-invented a commercial drug, which is used for the treatment of HIV. 

For online lessons we will mixing slides with questions on the topics that you want to focus on. In terms of lesson content, I like to use problems as a basis for a discussion to gauge your level of knowledge and to help you identify ways to improve. I can reteach topics entirely of course if you want to get a different approach to your current teachers. I have a variety of notes, resources and memory aids that I'll share with you as we work through topics, and I use a mixture of quizzes and problems to check your understanding. Every lesson is produced specifically for you and the more information that you can share with me, the more tailored they can be - I will happily review tests and homework problems that you've completed in school to help work out what we should focus on next. You should therefore expect lessons to be challenging, demanding, focused entirely on you, and actually quite good fun.
