Hello! I'm Bethan and I have recently graduated with a first class degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Birmingham. I have been a tutor for 3 years, so I'm very aware that my lessons should be enjoyable as well as informative. I love to involve different revision methods such as blurting and mnemonics in my classes, to break down content-heavy subjects such as Chemistry. One of the most important aspects of our learning is practicing our knowledge, so I will make sure to include multiple choice questions and past paper questions to solidify our knowledge and to ensure that we know what the examiners are looking for. As I recently completed my Chemistry (AQA) A Levels, I am very familiar with the curriculum and I know what it takes to succeed. I am a confident and patient teacher, and I am passionate about educating young people, so they can achieve their full potential. 

In my sessions, I aim to create a supportive and engaging environment where students feel confident tackling challenging topics. Before each lesson, I prepare clear learning objectives and tailor resources to each student’s needs, ensuring that we build on their existing knowledge and address any gaps in understanding.

Lessons typically begin with a quick recap of previous content to reinforce retention, followed by clear explanations, worked examples, and plenty of opportunities for students to apply what they’ve learned through practice questions. I incorporate a range of revision techniques such as blurting, mnemonics, and exam-style questions to keep learning active and memorable.

Progress is measured through regular low-stakes quizzes, topic reviews, and exam-style assessments, allowing us to track improvement over time and adjust focus where needed. I believe that encouragement and positive feedback are key to developing confidence and motivation, so I always celebrate small wins as well as big achievements.

Ultimately, my goal is to help students not only master the content but also develop independent learning skills and exam confidence, so they can perform at their best when it matters most.
