About Bailey
Hi, I’m Bailey, a 4th-year medical student at Leicester Medical School with a deep passion for teaching, learning, and empowering others to reach their full potential. From my earliest years in education, I’ve always loved helping others understand difficult concepts — whether it was breaking down tricky science topics for classmates in school or supporting fellow medical students through complex anatomy and physiology. Teaching has become a natural extension of my studies and something I genuinely enjoy.
Throughout my time at university, I’ve balanced my medical degree with a growing commitment to education. I’ve had the opportunity to tutor both privately and within my medical school, helping students at a range of levels — from GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry to medical undergraduates preparing for exams and clinical assessments. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of how different learners think, what challenges they face, and how to bring out their best in both academic and practical settings.
Within medical school, I hold a position as a peer teaching lead for our revision society, where I coordinate and deliver sessions designed to support my peers through their exams. This has involved developing structured teaching materials, running revision workshops, and mentoring younger students as they transition through the early years of medical school. I also provide 1-to-1 tutoring and small group teaching, focusing on clarifying difficult topics and building study routines that promote long-term success.
One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring for me is seeing the transformation in students’ confidence — that moment when a topic finally “clicks” or when someone realises they’re capable of far more than they first thought. I firmly believe that success isn’t just about natural ability but about developing the right mindset, strategies, and habits. I don’t believe in failure — I believe in progress. Every challenge, mistake, or exam result is a chance to learn, grow, and come back stronger. That’s an attitude I try to instil in every student I work with.
Tutoring Style
My tutoring style is personalised, evidence-based, and empathetic. I understand that everyone learns differently, and I take time to get to know my students as individuals — how they think, what motivates them, and what barriers might be holding them back. I then tailor each session around their needs, using strategies that make learning feel more intuitive and effective.
As someone who is dyslexic, I know first-hand how challenging traditional learning methods can be for students with dyslexia and other learning differences. This has driven me to research and develop approaches that make studying more accessible, engaging, and rewarding. I incorporate proven techniques such as dual encoding (using visuals and text together), multi-sensory learning, and visual or auditory aids to strengthen memory and understanding. I also use active recall, spaced repetition, and problem-based learning to help students apply their knowledge confidently.
My sessions are interactive and adaptive — we might use colour-coded notes, diagrams, real-world examples, or flowcharts depending on what works best for you. If you haven’t yet found a learning style that suits you, I’ll help you discover one that does. The goal is to make learning efficient, enjoyable, and memorable.
Beyond subject knowledge, I also teach exam and revision techniques, including time management, question analysis, and how to approach unfamiliar problems under pressure. Many students find that these skills make the difference between “just getting by” and achieving their full potential.
Above all, I want my students to leave each session feeling more confident, capable, and motivated than when they started. I aim to create a positive and supportive environment where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities and progress is celebrated. Whether you’re aiming for top grades, trying to rediscover your confidence in a subject, or simply looking to refine your study strategies, I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way.
