My tutoring style is built around making psychology both understandable and exam-ready. I structure my sessions to help students master both the knowledge (AO1) and evaluation (AO3) components that are crucial for exam success. Rather than just memorising theories, I help students understand how to critically analyse and evaluate psychological concepts.

A typical session begins with identifying areas where the student needs support, followed by clear explanation and discussion. I use real-world examples and memorable analogies to help concepts stick, and we practice applying this knowledge through exam-style questions. I believe in active learning, so I encourage students to explain concepts back to me and develop their own examples.

For essay questions, I teach a structured approach that ensures students hit all the assessment objectives. We break down complex topics into manageable chunks, and I provide scaffolding that gradually builds confidence. I share proven techniques for organising extended responses and managing time effectively in exams.

I adapt my teaching pace and style to each student's needs - some prefer visual learning with diagrams and mind maps, others learn better through discussion and debate. I also provide carefully selected practice questions and give detailed feedback to help students understand exactly how to improve.
