I approach my tutoring lessons in the same way as my school lessons - starting with a recap task to check recall and retention of past information. I like to liaise with my students ahead of the lesson to find out which areas they will find most beneficial to work through next, and then I can tailor their sessions to suit individual needs. I use a mixture of guided and independent practice to allow students to learn from me and then showcase their understanding. I place a real emphasis on exam technique and looking through mark schemes to help students understand the best way to go about answering exam questions. I like my tutoring sessions to feel very collaborative, with students working with me to expand their understanding, then independently putting what they have learnt into practice through past paper questions and examples.
