Stuart H.

Stuart Hocknell was educated at Swansea Grammar School and the universities of Cardiff, Bristol, Southampton and Cambridge.

He trained as an electronics engineer and served in the Royal Air Force for 33 years where he taught both airborne and ground-based electronic systems to military aircrew and ground engineers. He was appointed MBE(military) and OBE(military) for services to the Royal Air Force.  

He has been a schoolmaster since 2000 working in the independent 6th-form colleges in Cambridge. Although he is retired from full-time employment, he continues to work as an assistant A-level examiner and support tutor to 6th-formers who seek admission to the topmost universities.

I teach one-to-one and my classes are always informal. My classes draw on my experience beyond the classroom; they focus on accuracy and detail. I teach confidence and attend to the mathematics needed for the topmost grades. I aim for a thorough understanding of both classical and modern physics required by the examination boards. I set much homework, which I mark by return and provide exemplary answers.
