I have taught Chemistry in mainly selective schools for 29 years which include UK state grammars and in one of the top 100 international schools in the world. Last year 65% of my students obtained an A*/A grade in A Level Chemistry and 75% grade 9/8 at GCSE. I have taught many students over the years who have gained places at Russell Group Universities such as Oxbridge and US Ivy League such as Yale and Columbia. I have been an Edexcel A Level examiner for over 20 years and an IB Examiner for 4. I am a publised author and have written for Pearson (Edexcel) and CAIE and currently have a GCSE Chemistry workbook on the market, for which I receive royalties. I am also an IAL Edexcel examiner and assessment writer and reviewer.

My tutoring style is to encourage active learning and participation in the lesson. I ask lots of questions in order to address misconceptions that arise in Chemistry so that I am able to go back to the fundemental concepts and work via scaffolding from these to understand the more advanced ideas. This then develops the synoptic element of A Level Chemistry that is required to achieve A*/A grades. I use a variety of visual resources and include a lot of examination practice which I am able to achieve successfully due to my 20 plus years an examiner.
