I have worked in education since 2006 while at university being a tutor at a local secondary school and after completing my degree and PGCE I began working in mainstream schools in Birmingham. I have progresse from Subject Lead of Chemistry and BTEC Science to Lead Practitioner at my last school. Currently, I am employed as Assistant Headteacher of Teaching and Learning as well as being TEEP Level 4 trained with great expertise in teaching and learning. My Masters degree looked at how students learn and the steps that can be taken to improve retrieval of information for assessments. 

I make clear links to the specification as well as worked examples, I like knowing what students know or don't know and check their understanding before building with exam technique. Through targeted questions and focusing on recall (AO1), then describe/explain (AO2) and then applying to exam questions through scaffolding (AO3). With complex and synoptic topics, I review misconceptions and use the 'I do, we do, you do' model for students to gain confidence in complex areas such as calculations. I will set work between sessions to ensure pupils are completing the required hours of learning in their own time, this is an important life skill moving forward into FE and HE.
