About Me

Hello, I’m Ritchard Ouma, a London-based full-time professional tutor and educational consultant.

I began tutoring while completing the International Baccalaureate at the American International School of Budapest. Having grown up internationally, including in Kenya, Pakistan, Hungary and Switzerland, I understand the experience of students moving between different educational systems and international schools.

I later moved to London to study Materials Science and Engineering with Business Management at Imperial College London, continuing to tutor alongside my degree before making education my full-time career.

Subjects & Qualifications

I work with students across GCSE, A Level and IB, with particular experience in Maths, Chemistry and Physics.

I also provide SAT/ACT preparation and support students through UK and US university applications.

Experience

Over the past decade, I have worked with students attending leading independent, grammar and international schools, and have supported students targeting highly competitive universities in the UK and US.

One of the advantages of my broad academic background is that I can look at a student’s education as a whole. A student may need help with IB Maths one week, Physics the next, SAT preparation later in the year and eventually university applications. I am able to provide continuity throughout that process rather than treating each challenge in isolation.

I also have extensive experience supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia.

Parent Perspective

I am a father of four and understand how important it is for parents to feel that their child is receiving patient, reliable and genuinely effective academic support.

My approach is highly individual. I begin by understanding the student, identifying what is holding them back and deciding what will make the greatest difference — whether that is gaps in core knowledge, weak exam technique, confidence, organisation or motivation.

I place a strong emphasis on exam technique. Many students understand far more than their grades suggest, but lose marks because of timing, question interpretation or the way they structure their answers. I help students recognise what examiners are looking for and develop clear, repeatable methods they can rely on under pressure.

I also have extensive experience supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia. I adapt lessons through clear structure, manageable steps, varied pacing, repetition where useful and alternative explanations when a conventional approach is not working.

Just as importantly, I want students to feel engaged and confident. I build strong rapport, take an interest in the student as an individual and aim to make difficult subjects feel understandable rather than intimidating.

Parents and students have described me as enthusiastic, passionate, patient and inspiring. I bring that same energy to each lesson while remaining organised, purposeful and focused on measurable progress.
