Poppy T.

I’m currently doing a PhD in English Literature and Folklore Studies, following an MA in Environmental Literature at the University of Bristol and an undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford.

I have over six years of tutoring experience and have taught English Language and Literature in two secondary schools in London. These roles have given me access to a wide range of teaching resources for GCSE and A-Level students, which I incorporate into my online one-to-one tutoring sessions.

I’m happy to tutor students of all ages in English and History, as well as provide support with university applications, including personal statements. I’ve also previously worked with one of Oxford’s outreach programmes, so I’m happy to offer advice and guidance to Oxbridge applicants and help address any fears or concerns they may have about the application process.

Additionally, I’m a CELTA-qualified EFL teacher and can take on a small number of students learning English as a foreign language.

Ultimately, I aim to inspire an enthusiasm for and love of the subject, while helping students develop their knowledge, confidence and exam skills.

Please feel free to message me if you’re interested in booking a lesson, and we can arrange a time for our first session!

My tutoring style is flexible, allowing me to adapt each session to the individual needs and learning style of the student. I use curriculum materials and exam questions alongside lessons that I plan and create around texts, topics and methods that appeal to the individual tutee.

I usually set some homework to be completed between sessions, which we then go through together at the beginning of the following lesson. However, if a student or parent would prefer not to have homework, I’m equally happy to accommodate this.
