I have taught Maths and Further Maths in various secondary schools to a wide range of students. I still take pleasure from seeing students learn new skills and succeed in their exams after 25+ years. Many of my students have gone on to study Maths at a higher level, or used their qualification to support their employment or further studies. I also work as an examiner at GCSE and A level to keep in touch with the changing demands of the courses.

My style is interactive with sessions centred on the needs of the student. Initially I will be finding out what topics are their strengths and weaknesses. My tutoring is focussed on the course content, and I take every opportunity to relate the maths to concrete examples and their previous knowledge. Over time, I can adapt my style to specific question practice and modelling answers. I always welcome the student bringing questions they are stuck on - and will provide further questions to use between sessions.

From my classroom experience, I am able to adapt quickly to any misunderstandings of topics and reinforce previous learning. I'm happy to work with less enthusiastic students and love the challenge of engaging them in being responsible for their learning outcomes.
