I am a recently retired teacher with 34 years service teaching Physics to GCSE and A level. I have been fortunate to work in outstanding schools with excellent academic reputations. My students, of all abilities, made excellent progress in their Physics lessons. I have taught many students who have gone to study physics and engineering at Russell Group universities. I have an excellent understanding of the Physics specifications and can adapt my teaching to support students at any level. As part of my role I was responsible for developing the teaching skills of other teachers so I am an excellent classroom practitioner. I have considerable experience as an A Level Physics examiner and as a personal tutor teaching online to students across the country. Since retirement I have been a private online tutor and I have developed my expertise on other platforms so that I could transfer my classroom skills to one-on-one tuition. My tutees have been very satisfied with the lessons I have provided and remained clients over several months. 

I have a wealth of resources designed to support students of all abilities. I develop a personalised programme for each student I teach. This is based upon a diagnostic assessment of the students understanding of the academic concepts along with the students confidence in answering examination questions. My lessons aim to explore the theoretical content, support the students knowledge and understnding and then allow them to apply what we have learned. Study skills and examination technique are vital and we build these over a sequence of lessons. Depending upon the needs of the students I can reinforce key ideas, prepare students for public examinations and university entrance exams or develop key skills. I avoid the use of powerpoint and tutor directly using a visualiser to allow me to work with the student in real time at their own pace. I have a proven track record of developing all my tutor students and strong parent satisfaction. Students make real progress in my tutorials. I think communication is essential to establishimg a good working relationship with my clients and their parents. To this end I send regular progress updates to parents and ensure students have all the resources they need in good time for our tutorial.
