I have taught English in secondary schools for over 30 years. In that time I have taught across all three key stages and am extremely experienced with the delivery of AQA English exam courses including AQA and EDUQAS specifications. I am currently an A level literature examiner for AQA, specialising in the specification B tragedy and crime options. I have also examined GCSE English literature for many years. I am passionate about my subject and enjoy seeing how studying English can engage and interest students who may have not found this joy before. I am experienced in teaching students with SEND and ensure that my lessons reflect the individual needs of each of my students.

I have developed many tried and tested strategies over the years to ensure students are successful when taking English exams at GCSE and A level. I am thorough and exacting in what I expect from my students; in return, they can expect excellent resources, detailed and timely feedback as well as encouragement and support. I like to build a personal relationship based on respect and trust. Students can expect a mixture of discussion and writing tasks in sessions.
