–– A-Level Biology tuition for Year 12 and Year 13 ––

I help A-Level Biology students build the knowledge, exam technique and confidence needed for top grades.

I am currently welcoming a limited number of Year 12 students for consistent, long-term support through Year 13 and their final A-Level examinations. Starting early gives us time to strengthen foundations, develop secure exam technique, and identify gaps well before January mocks and the final exam period.

This is particularly valuable for students aiming for A/A*, those finding the transition to A-Level challenging, and applicants to competitive courses including Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science.

I also work with Year 13 students who need focused support, subject to availability.

Experienced A-Level Biology Tutor | Qualified Teacher | Examiner | PhD Scientist

I am an experienced A-Level Biology specialist, qualified teacher, examiner and PhD-trained research scientist. My qualifications include a PhD in Molecular Microbiology, an MSc in Biomedical Sciences and a BSc in Biology.

Before teaching, I worked in scientific research in both academic and industry settings, including at King’s College London and University College London. This depth of subject knowledge allows me to bring Biology to life through real-world scientific applications and contemporary research examples.

I gained Qualified Teacher Status and have been teaching Biology in secondary schools and lecturing in higher education since 2013. As an examiner, I understand how students lose marks and what high-quality answers need to do. I use this insight to help students turn sound subject knowledge into stronger examination performance.

My tutoring experience includes supporting students through the full GCSE and A-Level Biology courses, as well as focused revision programmes when time is limited. Many of my students choose regular tuition over an extended period, allowing us to build knowledge systematically, track progress and develop confident exam technique.

I have also supported aspiring medical students in their Biology studies and admissions preparation, helping many secure offers from leading UK medical schools and universities.

My lessons are structured, supportive and tailored to the individual student. I work across AQA, OCR and Edexcel A-Level Biology specifications.

At the start, I assess each student’s current understanding, goals and areas for development. From there, I design a personalised programme that combines:

• Clear teaching of difficult content and common misconceptions

• Retrieval practice and targeted exam questions

• Detailed guidance on exam technique and mark schemes

• Synoptic links between topics, essential for A-Level success

• Real-world scientific examples that make Biology memorable

• A positive, encouraging environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions

New topics are introduced through clear, accessible explanations before progressing to the more challenging detail needed for top examination performance. I place particular emphasis on helping students make links across the curriculum, so they develop a deeper understanding of Biology rather than learning isolated topics.

Bespoke long-term support package

For students looking for consistent, high-level support, I offer a bespoke programme designed around their specification, current working grade and individual learning needs.

This can include planned weekly lessons, tailored resources, purposeful homework, marking and written feedback, and termly assessment papers to track progress and identify next steps. Lessons are designed in advance, rather than being generic revision sessions, so each student has a clear and personalised route towards their target grade.

Because this level of support requires preparation and continuity, places are limited. I prioritise students who are ready to book regular sessions in advance and engage with work between lessons.
