Having taught and tutored GCSE and A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics for 34 years, I have worked as a Head of Mathematics for a number of years, developing a deep and thorough knowledge of how young people learn and achieve in Mathematics and a wide range of exam board specifications. I have particular expertise in Further Maths and worked for the University of Manchester for a number of years, delivering A-Level revision courses for students in the North West. For the last 13 years, I have worked in the role of Head of Sixth Form at a thriving Sixth Form, successfully supporting hundreds of students with their university applications and personal statement writing (in which I have particular expertise). I have also supported a number of students with Oxbridge applications and interviews, including STEP and MAT preparation in Mathematics applications. I enjoy tutoring remotely and adapting my teaching style to tailor to individual learners' needs.

I use a wealth of appropriate resources to explain and illustrate the central concepts of each topic and take learners through the key theory points and problem-solving techniques to provide them with model solutions. I then support learners in their own problem-solving, determining learner misconceptions and areas for development, including the communication of their mathematics, and give them further pointers to strengthen their skills. I aspire to create a learning environment where the learner feels secure, comfortable, is able to ask questions and tangibly grows in confidence in their learning, developing a mastery (and hopefully appreciation) of Mathematics.
