Hello, my name is Maia. I am a graduate MSc Forensic Psychology student and experienced forensic psychologist in training. I have always been fascinated by psychology and the way it can be used to understand human behaviour, thoughts, and experiences. My studies have allowed me to develop a strong understanding of psychological concepts, while also strengthening my research, communication, and analytical skills.

I enjoy tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge and support students in developing both their understanding and confidence. Throughout my own studies, I have explored a range of different revision and learning techniques and have found that everyone has their own individual preferences when it comes to learning. Because of this, I aim to provide personalised lessons that are adapted to each student's needs, helping them to reach their full potential and confidence.

From my tutoring experience, I understand the importance of regularly reviewing previously covered content to make sure students have a clear understanding before moving on to new topics. I encourage students to ask questions and identify areas they may be struggling with so that we can work through them together. Lessons can be structured around the relevant exam-board content, while also allowing flexibility to focus on specific topics or areas where a student would like additional support.

As an online tutor, my teaching style focuses on making learning personal, engaging, and flexible. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my approach to suit their individual needs, preferences, and abilities. I put the student at the centre of the learning process by getting to know their strengths, areas for improvement, and personal goals. From this, I can create a learning plan that works best for them. I am also flexible with my teaching methods and regularly assess each student’s progress, making changes where necessary to ensure they are learning effectively and continuing to improve.
