I am a qualified Science teacher with over seven years’ tutoring experience, a PGCE from UCL and a First-Class Honours degree from the University of Bristol. As a Chemistry specialist, I have taught students across KS3, GCSE and A level and have previously served as Deputy Head of Science. This experience has given me a strong understanding of how students’ needs change as they progress and how to make challenging content more manageable.

My work as an examiner has also given me valuable insight into how scientific knowledge must be communicated to gain marks and the common mistakes that can prevent students from showing what they know. I use this insight to help you develop a secure understanding of Chemistry and the precision required in examinations.

I also support medicine applicants with personal statements and interview preparation, helping them reflect thoughtfully on their experiences, express their motivation clearly and approach the application process with greater confidence.

I shape each lesson around your current understanding and the areas you most want to improve. My aim is to create a calm and supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and saying when something does not make sense. We will break difficult concepts and calculations into manageable steps, work through examples together and gradually build towards answering questions independently.

As your confidence develops, we will focus on applying your knowledge accurately and explaining your reasoning clearly. For exam preparation, I use past-paper questions, mark schemes and examiner feedback to help you recognise what each question is asking, avoid common mistakes and write precise answers. We will also revisit previous topics regularly so that your understanding is secure and retained over time.

If you are applying for medicine, sessions will follow the same personalised approach. We can develop your personal statement, explore how to reflect meaningfully on your experiences and practise responding to interview questions. My feedback will be honest and specific, while ensuring that your application and responses continue to sound natural and authentic to you.
