I have been tutoring English (Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13) for more than 5 years (over 1000 lessons). I am a professional English tutor. I initially worked as a teaching assistant in a college and then became an online tutor, using multiple platforms. I have a bachelor's degree in American Studies and English (history, literature and politics) and a master's degree in Global Politics. Based on feedback from many students, I am better at teaching English than many qualified teachers.

I tend to begin by going through relevant exam papers and explaining the different writing structures such questions require. I then tend to focus on how to use and explain quotations ("zooming in"). I tend to do these two steps first because I've found students are often lacking clarity on these areas. Of course, I cover a lot more than this. These two steps are only the beginning and they do tend to take a while for students to master. 

In terms of my teaching style, I'm typically relaxed and patient, not authoritative. However that does depend on the student's approach. I prefer to be relaxed and patient, but sometimes it is necessary for a tutor/teacher to be authoritative.
