About James
I am an Oxford physics graduate who then had a 30 year city career. I returned to the subject 2 years ago when I completed my teacher training and will be commencing my MSc in Astrophysics from September with a view to finally moving on to take a PhD. I have taught in an outstanding secondary school covering all year groups and ability levels, but most enjoy teaching high achieving A level students. I have also provided 1:1 tuition for students, including helping one year 10 student improve from GCSE grade 1 level to grade 5 level and moving to higher tier for year 11.
Tutoring Style
When teaching A level I am aware that I am not necessarily the smartest person in the room, but I am the most experienced and I need to help pass on the benefit of that experience. For A level physics I think the content is relatively straightforward but the challenge comes from how you approach the question, identify the relevant Physics and set about problem solving. My teaching focusses on how to solve the problem so if you want someone to tell you the answers, then I am probably not right for you. But, if you want someone to help you learn how to find out the answers then I will be able to help you
