I am a fully qualified English teacher with over five years of experience teaching English Language and English Literature in secondary schools, alongside two years of private tutoring. I have taught students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, working with learners of all abilities, from those needing extra support to students aiming for the highest grades.

Alongside my teaching experience, I have worked as an AQA examiner, giving me an in-depth understanding of mark schemes, examiner expectations and the skills students need to succeed in GCSE examinations. This allows me to provide accurate, up-to-date guidance on how to approach exam questions, structure responses and maximise marks.

Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of texts including Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls, Romeo and Juliet and the AQA Power and Conflict poetry anthology, as well as preparing students for English Language Paper 1 and Paper 2. I have extensive experience supporting students with exam preparation, coursework, essay writing, analytical skills and revision strategies.

I am passionate about helping every student make meaningful progress, whether they are working towards a Grade 4 pass or striving for the highest grades. My combination of classroom experience, examiner insight and one-to-one tutoring enables me to provide expert support that is tailored to each student's academic goals.

I believe the most effective tutoring is personalised, supportive and focused on building confidence. At the beginning of our sessions, I identify each student's strengths, areas for development and learning goals, allowing me to create lessons that are tailored to their individual needs.

My lessons are structured, engaging and interactive, with a strong focus on developing the skills that lead to long-term success rather than simply memorising content. I use high-quality resources, model answers, worked examples and guided practice to help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for. As an AQA examiner, I also incorporate mark schemes and examiner advice to help students improve their exam technique and avoid common mistakes.

Regular retrieval practice, targeted feedback and exam-style questions allow students to track their progress and build confidence over time. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically and reflect on their learning, creating a positive environment where they feel comfortable making mistakes and developing their skills.

Whether a student needs support catching up, preparing for GCSE or A-Level examinations, or aiming for the top grades, my goal is to help them become confident, independent learners who leave each lesson feeling motivated and better equipped to succeed.
