Many tutors have a degree in Economics or Business. Far fewer are qualified teachers with over 12 years of classroom experience teaching these subjects professionally.

I am a fully qualified Economics and Business teacher with over a decade of experience in outstanding UK schools and leading British international schools. My experience goes far beyond subject knowledge. As a trained teacher, I understand how students learn, where misconceptions arise, how to differentiate for different ability levels and how to develop the exam skills needed to achieve top grades.

As Head of Economics and Business, I have taught and led large departments, supporting thousands of students through GCSE, IGCSE and A-level qualifications across multiple exam boards. This means I understand not only the specification, but also how to sequence learning, diagnose weaknesses and accelerate progress effectively.

Alongside my teaching experience, I am an examiner for Edexcel and AQA. I understand exactly how examiners award marks, what separates average answers from top-band responses and the common mistakes that prevent students from reaching their desired grade.

My students have achieved exceptional outcomes, including the highest A-level Economics result in Hong Kong and across Asia, alongside consistently high proportions of A*-A grades. Most recently, a full cohort of 32 A-level Economics students achieved 97% A*-B, demonstrating strong whole class impact. With 1-1 tuition, this level of success can be targeted even more precisely to the individual student. 

I’ve worked with a wide range of students, including those with additional learning needs, those who initially disliked Economics (and ended up loving it) and high-achievers aiming for A/A*.

As a qualified Economics and Business teacher with over 12 years of classroom experience, my lessons are built around proven teaching strategies rather than simply explaining content. Every lesson includes retrieval practice, exam questions and clear feedback so students know exactly what they need to do to improve.

Having taught thousands of students in schools and sixth forms, I have developed a strong understanding of the misconceptions, knowledge gaps and exam technique errors that repeatedly hold students back. This allows me to quickly identify where a student is struggling and target lessons towards their specific needs, rather than working through content for the sake of it.

A major focus of my teaching is exam technique, as this is often where students lose the most marks. My experience as an Edexcel and AQA examiner means I can show students exactly what examiners are looking for and how to structure answers to access the highest mark bands. We work on developing strong chains of knowledge, application, analysis and evaluation so that students can consistently produce high-quality responses under exam conditions.

Unlike many tutors who rely solely on their subject knowledge, my teaching is underpinned by professional teacher training, extensive classroom experience and a deep understanding of how students learn. This allows me to adapt explanations, questioning and activities to suit different learning styles and ability levels.
