Hello! I'm Dr Amna Riaz, a Physics and Maths tutor with a DPhil from the University of Oxford and over 10 years of experience teaching GCSE, IGCSE and A-level students. Alongside tutoring, I work as a space engineer researching satellite and laser communication systems, and I've been recognised with the WE50 Top 50 Women in Engineering, TechWomen100 and SAE Rising Star (Aerospace) awards.

My teaching style is clear, patient and supportive. I focus on helping you truly understand concepts rather than memorise them, and I bring topics to life with real-world examples from my own work in space technology.

Every student is different, so I tailor each lesson to your needs. If you already have a good grasp of the basics, we'll focus on more challenging topics and work through past-paper and predicted-style questions. If you need to strengthen your foundations, we'll start with the core concepts, build understanding step by step, and then move into exam-style questions to develop confidence and technique.

I've worked with students of all abilities and learning styles, in both 1:1 and group sessions, and I've prepared students for AQA and Edexcel. We do plenty of exam practice so you feel ready for the real thing, and my students have gone on to achieve very high grades. My lessons are calm, structured and supportive, with space for you to ask questions without feeling rushed or judged. I focus on understanding first: we work out why a method works before practising it, so you can handle unfamiliar questions rather than relying on memorised steps.

I start by finding out where you are. A short diagnostic or a look at recent work shows me your strengths and gaps, and I build the lessons around that. If you need to strengthen your foundations, we move step by step from core concepts to exam-style questions. If you're already confident, we go straight to challenging topics, past papers and predicted-style questions.

I use clear worked examples, diagrams and real-world links from my work in space technology to make abstract ideas feel concrete. After each lesson you'll get tailored practice, and I mark it with detailed feedback so you can see exactly where marks are won and lost.

For exams, I teach technique alongside content: command words, mark-scheme language, showing method clearly and managing time. I also help with confidence and study habits, such as how to revise efficiently, learn from mistakes and stay motivated. My aim is for you to leave each lesson knowing more and feeling more capable.
