I am currently a first-year Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics student at the University of Birmingham. I achieved A*s in A-level Maths, Further Maths and Physics. My recent experience with these exams provides me with an insider insight into the common misconceptions and mistakes that my peers have made in order to be able to correct them to achieve their target grade.

Throughout my A-Levels and the start of university, I have regularly been doing tutoring, which has provided me with experience dealing with a variety of students across years 7-13. I have supported students of all abilities, with many going on to achieve their target grades and some exceeding their targets. I have a strong passion for students to develop a deeper understanding of both maths and physics by breaking down complex topics into clear and accessible steps.

My teaching is rooted in the Socratic method. Instead of telling students the answers, I guide them with carefully chosen questions to help them discover the concepts themselves. This is essential for both maths and physics as it builds genuine understanding, which provides the ability to tackle unfamiliar problems.

The sessions are a supportive and low-pressure environment where mistakes are seen as a valuable learning experience. Whether your student lacks confidence or is a high achiever, each lesson is unique and personalised to break down the fundamentals and stretch them as necessary.

For exam preparation, I combine this deep conceptual understanding with practical exam techniques such as understanding the mark schemes and time management. Furthermore, I will guide them with their revision by identifying their weaker areas and providing the targetted resources to address them.
