I currently study Economics at the University of Nottingham, and have spent two years tutoring economics, a subject I have come to love from my time during A-Levels. So far, I have worked with a diverse range of students, each struggling with a different aspect of the A-Level Course. Be it content mastery, exam technique or confidence building, I have helped them all tackle their respective challenges and achieve a two-grade improvement across the board.

I don't treat misconceptions as one-off corrections, I track them across sessions so I can see whether an error a student made three weeks ago has actually been resolved or is quietly persisting under a different question. This means recurring mistakes are caught and dealt with properly, rather than being patched once and left to resurface closer to the exam.

I always try to bridge understanding with real world examples and create an atmosphere where students can ask me any question to better their clarity, with no fear of judgement or feeling like a question is daft. I simultaneously integrate exam practice with content mastery to prevent it feeling like a burden.

I mark as much work as a student sends me, with no cap on how much homework or past paper practice I'll go through. Some students want frequent, high-volume practice, and I'm happy to keep pace with whatever level of extra work they want to put in.

I also don't treat the hour mark as a hard stop. If a topic hasn't been fully understood by the end of the scheduled time, I'll continue until it has been properly delivered and my student is genuinely confident with it, rather than ending abruptly because the clock has run out.

Beyond A-level content, I've also previously served as an academic mentor, so I'm able to offer university application advice free of charge to my students who want it, whether that's personal statements, course choices or general guidance on the application process.
