I have been teaching / tutoring for over 25 years in a wide variety of contexts. I was a head of department for over 20 years as well as working as a tutor and examiner before I became a full time tutor. I have examined for most boards across all key stages. I have written chapters in science education books as well as working for the BBC writing and advising them on educational contexts for programs and website content, including writing and reviewing parts of the bytesize platform. I have edited and a reviewed materials for international science publications as well as developing materials for exam boards for their online content.

My tuition style is direct with me using a wide range of styles to assess what the issues are with the material being taught. I then translate this into manageable steps to develop confidence and mastery. Once this has reached the required level the focus shifts to what the examiner is looking for and tips and startegies are then imparted to achieve a successful outcome. My style of teaching is friendly and I use humour to put the student at ease. I exemplify my teaching by drawing on my industrial and research experience to give context to my teaching. This approach has led to many successful outcomes with students achieving great results to move on to the next stage of their lives.
