About Louise
I am a highly experienced Psychology educator with over thirteen years of teaching and leadership experience across leading British and international schools, and I am passionate about supporting students to achieve their academic potential with confidence and clarity.
I currently serve as Head of Psychology at one of the most innovative schools in the UK, online, and have extensive experience delivering GCSE, IGCSE, International A Level and A Level Psychology across Edexcel, AQA, and Cambridge International specifications. Alongside classroom teaching, I regularly provide one-to-one academic tutoring and mentoring, supporting students with examination technique, content mastery, and confidence-building, including those with additional learning needs.
I particularly value creating supportive, structured learning environments where students feel understood and motivated, and I pride myself on building strong, professional relationships with both students and families. I am flexible with my availability, UK–Spain-based, and comfortable supporting learners across different time zones.
Tutoring Style
My teaching approach is rooted in fun, creativity, and high levels of interaction, while remaining relentlessly focused on exam success and measurable attainment. I believe that students perform best when they are intellectually stimulated, challenged, and actively involved in their learning, so lessons are carefully designed to balance enjoyment with rigour. Every activity has a clear purpose, explicitly linked to exam objectives, assessment criteria, and long-term progression.
I use a wide range of creative strategies—such as competitive retrieval tasks, structured debate, role-play, modelling, and problem-solving challenges—to engage students and deepen understanding. Lessons are fast-paced and highly interactive, ensuring that all learners are thinking, responding, and applying knowledge rather than passively receiving information. Questioning is targeted and strategic, allowing me to identify misconceptions quickly and adapt teaching in real time to maximise progress.
Despite the creative nature of my lessons, exam preparation remains central. I explicitly teach exam technique, command words, and mark-scheme language, embedding these within engaging tasks so that students build confidence and fluency without anxiety. Regular low-stakes assessment, retrieval practice, and exam-style questioning ensure that progress is constantly monitored and gaps are addressed early. High expectations are consistently reinforced, with clear success criteria and structured feedback that enables students to take ownership of their improvement.
This approach has been consistently recognised in lesson observations, where I have regularly been graded outstanding. I have also been rated outstanding while working in two of the highest-performing schools in the UK, reflecting my ability to combine creativity with academic excellence. Ultimately, my teaching empowers students to enjoy learning, believe in their abilities, and achieve exceptional outcomes in high-stakes examinations.
