About Lennon
Hello! My name is Lennon. I'm an experienced personal tutor in my 5th year of studying Medicine at Imperial College London. My specialties include GCSE Biology and Chemistry, both of which I achieved A*s at A level and grade 9s at GCSE. I am very familiar with AQA and IGCSE Edexcel exam boards, as well as GCSE Edexcel, OCR and WJEC.
I also specialise in medical school admissions, particularly personal statements and interview preparation, having helped multiple students to achieve offers from their top-choice universities.
Last year, I graduated with distinction with a BSc in Anaesthetics and Critical Care, giving me in-depth knowledge of the science underpinning GCSE Biology and Chemistry. I have graduated years 1, 2 and 3 in the top 5-10% of my cohort, also winning an award for best in year practical skills exam performance. I aim to take success from my own learning and impart it to my students.
With over 500 hours of lessons on this site alone, I focus on getting to know my students, with a genuine interest in their academic performance. I have received certifications in Clinical and Medical Education from my university, which have helped me to develop a true understanding of how we learn. Combining these insights with learning from my degrees has provided me with an excellent skillset to deliver high quality teaching. I am proud of the confidence, knowledge and interest in learning that my students have built over the past 5 years - it is what drives me to continue teaching!
Tutoring Style
From experience, I have seen that many students don't understand underlying concepts, which can make tackling exam questions very challenging. With that in mind, I ensure my students actually understand what we learn. When teaching, I involve my students at every step, taking note of their tone and the detail of their answers to pick up on gaps that others might miss. Most importantly, I always welcome questions.
A lesson with me would involve:
- Covering the taught content of the topic, in accordance with the specification. I will teach through asking questions, building upon my students' baseline of knowledge so as to not overwhelm them.
- Highlighting common exam questions, discussing how to approach them to meet exam marking criteria.
- Supervised practice of past paper questions at the end of each topic with collaborative reflection on technique and improvements for next time.
I take real pride in the quality of my teaching, which is reflected by my reviews as well as real and consistent improvements in my students' grades and confidence. I can provide notes/feedback from our sessions and will always be happy to answer queries outside of lessons. Whether you need to grasp the basics or fine-tune your exam technique, I will help you achieve your goals. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to send me a message!
Please note: My availability is flexible and may differ from what you see. Feel free to message me if you don't see a slot that works for you, and I will do my best to accommodate. Additionally, as I enter my final year of Medicine, I will only be taking on a small number of students to ensure they each receive the time and focus that I pride myself on. If you are interested in booking lessons, I would recommend reaching out sooner rather than later!
