Karan B.

Hello! I'm Karan, an experienced Biology and Chemistry tutor with over 9 years of experience, teaching both subjects from GCSE through to A-level. I hold a First-Class Honours degree in Biomedical Sciences from King's College London and am currently in my final year of Medicine at the University of Leeds.

Through working with experienced examiners, I have developed a strong understanding of different exam boards, specifications, mark schemes and the wording needed to gain marks. I tailor my teaching to each student's strengths and weaknesses, with a strong focus on exam technique and building confidence.

I'm down to earth and easy to speak to, and I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. For aspiring medical students, I can also provide support with medical school applications, including personal statements and interview preparation. I tailor my lessons to each student's strengths and weaknesses, using targeted exam questions and past papers to build both knowledge and confidence. My aim is to make difficult concepts easier to understand while giving students the skills they need to achieve their best possible grades.

My tutoring style focuses on understanding the content and, importantly, knowing how to apply it in exams. I work closely with the specification and use targeted exam questions throughout my lessons, adapting my approach to each student's individual strengths and weaknesses.

Having gained insight from experienced examiners across AQA, OCR and Edexcel, I focus heavily on each exam board's specifications, mark schemes, key wording, command words and common areas where students lose marks.

I am easy to speak to and enjoy creating a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. For students interested in Medicine, I can also offer guidance with applications and interview preparation where needed.
