As a post-graduate student, revising and preparing for exams effectively is still a part of my daily life. I am post-graduate research student (MRes) at UCL studying Child Health, following a first-class Biochemistry degree from Bristol. I have tutored extensively for four years now, and although I have specific expertise for OCR Biology A Level, I have many tutees across the exam boards. For me, effective learning and spaced repetition are vital when studying for exams. I have always loved learning but I also understand that the way some subjects are taught in school does not lend itself to instilling a great passion for certain subjects because the exams rely heavily on memory and specific techniques. I try to make my lessons very interactive and enjoyable as I believe that students are more likely to do well if they really enjoy what they are learning. Whether a student is struggling to meet their goals or wants to push themselves even further, confidence is often a major contributing factor to what is holding them back. As a result, my lessons will be as much of an stress-free environment as possible so that my tutees feel like they can ask or answer questions they might not do at school.

For each tutee I take a unique approach, tailoring the lessons to how each individual works best and what they need to succeed - whether that be with explanations of topics, exam style questions to work on technique or short factual recall quizzes (or a combination of all three). A fundamental understanding of each topic on the syllabus is essential but after this, practice questions is the best way to achieve exam success. I tutor in a style that is suited for the individual needs of the student.
