I hold a first-class degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Edinburgh, as well as an MSc in Science Communication and a PGCE in Mathematics from UCL.

I began tutoring in 2020, when I volunteered to support students preparing for their GCSE Mathematics examinations during the Covid-19 pandemic. I subsequently worked with students across a wide range of abilities and levels, before teaching physics on a university foundation programme at the International Pathway College, University of York.

From 2023 to 2025, I taught physics and mathematics at Ashbourne Independent Sixth Form College. I specialised in AQA A-level Physics, including the Astrophysics option, and Edexcel A-level Mathematics. I also taught an intensive one-year Edexcel GCSE Mathematics course. Many of our students progressed to Russell Group universities, and I gained experience supporting students with university admissions tests and interviews.

Most recently, I completed my PGCE in Mathematics at UCL, with placements in two London state secondary schools. During these placements, I taught students from Year 7 through to sixth form and gained further experience supporting pupils with a wide range of abilities and educational needs, including SEND and EAL students.

I am passionate about inspiring a love of learning in my lessons. Physics and maths are essential to understanding the natural world and equip students with the analytical skills needed to thrive in a data-driven society. I also understand how challenging and anxiety-inducing these subjects can be, so I teach with patience and care, creating an environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

Maths and physics are built upon fundamental principles that students must understand before they can apply them confidently. My teaching therefore emphasises the connections between different topics, helping students combine ideas from across the course to solve unfamiliar problems. When working with a new student, I take time to identify and revisit any gaps in their foundational knowledge, which can easily arise during a fast-paced school course.

To help my students achieve their aspirations, I use a variety of visualisations and diagnostic questioning to create long-lasting insights into the nature of maths and physics. For exam preparation, I focus on clear working, effective time management, identifying which questions to prioritise, and remaining calm when the solution is not immediately obvious. In physics especially, I focus on clarity of written communication, as this is often where students lose marks.

Outside our sessions, I will set targeted homework to reinforce learning and provide personalised feedback. I work with each student to ensure that any additional workload remains manageable alongside their school assignments and other commitments.
