About Arnav
Hi! I’m Arnav, a second year medical student at Newcastle University with excellent GCSE and A-level results. I am a tutor who loves seeing the moment a difficult concept finally clicks, and I’ve developed a strong passion for science, learning and teaching. Medical school has given me a fresh appreciation of how challenging it can be to balance new concepts, memorise key facts and build confidence, and I understand how valuable the right support can be.
I’ve built an extremely strong track record of helping students improve their grades and, just as importantly, their confidence. I particularly enjoy taking a topic that initially feels overwhelming and breaking it down into something clear, manageable and achievable. I focus on helping students develop genuine understanding rather than simply memorising facts, so they can apply their knowledge to a wide range of questions.
I’m passionate about helping students reach their goals, whether that means achieving a top grade, securing their first-choice university place, or simply feeling more confident in a subject they have struggled with. Having been through the university admissions process myself and now working towards my own goal of becoming a doctor, I’m also excited to support students as they think about their next steps.
For me, tutoring is about more than just getting the right answer. It’s about helping students become confident, independent learners who feel capable of tackling whatever comes next.
Tutoring Style
My sessions are structured, focused and tailored to each student, whilst being enjoyable and rewarding. I start by understanding their goals, current strengths, and the areas they find most challenging. At the beginning of each lesson, I like to share a clear plan so the student knows exactly what we are going to cover and what they will be able to do by the end. Moreover, I always ensure we always have a plan for the upcoming lessons so they never feel behind or unsure about their learning.
Lessons typically combine explanation, discussion and plenty of exam practice. I break difficult concepts into manageable steps, check understanding throughout, and then give students the opportunity to apply what they have learnt. I place particular emphasis on exam technique and practising a range of questions, including unfamiliar ones, so they develop the confidence to tackle whatever comes up.
I use techniques such as active recall and spaced repetition, while adapting the session to what works best for the individual student. This means regularly revisiting previous topics and use questions or short assessments to identify gaps and measure progress.
Most importantly, I want lessons to be highly enjoyable and supportive. Students should feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and saying when something does not make sense. By combining encouragement with appropriate challenge, I aim to build both academic ability and the confidence to use it independently.
