Hello, My name is Sylvia, or Dr.B. I am an experienced science teacher who entered teaching after a Degree in Agricultural Zoology followed by a period of Science Research, which accumulated in a PhD in Animal Production.

My passion for science goes far beyond the theory found in text books. I was brought up on a dairy/ sheep farm and very much enjoy the outdoor world. I am an avid pilot, scuba diver, tri athlete, cyclist, gardener and environmentalsit. This background enables me to link theory to practical situations which not only assists in understanding but also brings the theory of science alive. I have taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Science to secondary students for 30 years. During my teaching career I have gained the reputation for providing extra support to students tailored to their individual needs.

I aim to tailor lessons to an individuals needs, this starts with accessing a students understandIng of background knowledge since a good background is essential for the building of further knowledge and understanding.

 I endevour to discover a students interests so that I can use link a students interests to scientific explanations 

A knowledge of a student's interests enables me to link scientific theory to their personal interests.
