I have been teaching in a range of settings since 2012; from comprehensive schools, a sixth form college and a grammar school.

Over the years I have supported countless students of a wide range of ages and abilities to meet and exceed their target grades.

I have been teaching Maths, Further maths (and Physics) for well over a decade, with my interest in these subjects only increasing over time!

I am a confident teacher but particularly enjoy the one-to-one nature of tuition, where the student can get exactly the support they need in order to make rapid progress.

I am confident and effective at communicating key mathematical ideas, regardless of the topic or the prior attainment of the student.

Whilst I am able to identify areas a student needs to work on, I believe that the most effective use of tuition time is when the student has a clear idea of the topics which they need to work on in advance, this can be based on: feedback from their teachers, performance on assessments or a general feeling of not fully understanding a topic.

I encourge my students to let me know what they would like support with and ideally have questions ready to ask in order for me to prepare suitable resources which will make the most of our time together and help to resolve all of their misconceptions.

During sessions I like students to attempt solutions to questions to the best of their ability before we discuss improvements and general strategies to write out ideal solutions to exam style questions. When a student's understanding is not yet at a level to work through exam style questions I can teach a topic form scratch where appropriate.
