About Lauryn

👋 Hey there! I’m Lauryn, a full-time tutor and Durham University graduate with a first-class honors master’s degree in Physics and Astronomy. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with over 100 students, helping them not only achieve their dream grades but also enjoy the learning journey!

Why Choose Me?

Passionate Tutor: I’m a bit of a nerd (in the best way!), and I truly believe that once you dive into the amazing world of physics and math, you’ll find it fascinating too! My goal is to help you develop a deep understanding of the topics because memorising answers isn’t the way to true success.

Building Connections: I focus on creating strong, supportive relationships with my students. Learning should be a collaborative adventure, and I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Flexible and Tailored Sessions: Whether you’re looking for a few lessons to brush up on some topics you struggle on, or a more regular commitment throughout the year, I’m here to help!

Commitment to Your Success: I understand that getting tutoring is a big commitment, but it’s an investment in your future. The skills you learn will serve you well, no matter where your exams take you. Plus, you’ll discover just how much you can achieve with hard work—an invaluable life lesson!

My Rate:

My rate reflects my expertise and dedication to your success. I’ve built a comprehensive resource library over the years, so I can offer you great value without compromising on quality. I offer discounts for multiple sessions, and if you’re available for lessons before 2 PM—my quieter time—I’m happy to provide even more savings!

Tutoring Style

Mathematics and physics are best learned through engagement and exploration. My teaching isn’t just about getting through the syllabus; it’s about fostering genuine interest and curiosity in the subject.

Active Learning: My lessons arent just reading over a textbook with you (that would just be boring for both of us). You’ll actively engage with the material, have an in-depth discussion about the content and make sure you have a deep understanding before I guide you through progressively more challenging questions. Confidence plays such a pivitol role in your success, and we'll work on making building your confidence in tackling questions outside of the lessons.

Tailored Approach: Together, we’ll customise your learning experience to best suit your needs. Whether you want to work through challenging problems from your classes or follow a syllabus I create to identify and address specific areas of difficulty, our sessions will be structured to maximise your growth. For GCSE and A-Level students, our focus will closely align with your exam syllabus, ensuring thorough preparation for success.

Continuous Support: My commitment always extends beyond our lessons. Choosing me as your tutor means gaining ongoing support. I’m always available for questions and discussions, and I provide additional resources to foster your progress. Your success is my priority, and I’m here to guide you every step of the way!

Homework and Feedback: The most progress you'll see is from practice, practice and more practice. Once we are confident you have all the tools you need to have a go yourself, the next step is doing a lot of questions - but you dont need me there for that! Homework is a vital part of the learning process, and I’ll assign relevant tasks to reinforce what we cover in our sessions. I closely monitor your progress and provide constructive feedback, helping you stay on track and identify areas for improvement.

Creating a Fun Environment: Learning should be enjoyable! I strive to create a relaxed atmosphere where you feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes—after all, that’s how we learn! I often incorporate interactive activities and real-world examples to make the material come alive, ensuring that our sessions are engaging and meaningful.

Sounds like we'd be a good fit? Amazing! Please feel free to drop me a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Some things it is helpful for me to know are:
- Your name and a little about your background

- The exam board and the course you’re studying

- Any specific topics or concepts you're finding challenging

- What grade you're currently working at

- Any short-term goals you’re aiming for (like upcoming tests)

 - Your long-term aspirations (such as your target grade)

- Your preferred times and frequency for sessions

- Any questions you might have for me!

I look forward to hearing from you!
